Autostitch allows you to create panoramic views automatically. I really had no idea such an application even existed. I was used to the idea of having applications tell me how to take pictures in order to create an average-looking panoramic scene. Even most cameras have a feature for this.
Autostitch automatically detects the edges of landmarks and geographical features in your pictures and "stitches" them together to create a panoramic view. All you need to do is tell the application what pictures to use and it will render all your images into a single panoramic image.
Of course, you are supposed to take pictures that are fit to be made into a panoramic view. But as long as all the pictures collectively show a building or part of a mountain, etc., your panoramic view will be good.
There aren't really many options to play with. And I have noticed that Autostitch doesn't detect whether a picture is in the right orientation before starting the stitching process. So, you have to make sure that all your pictures don't need any rotation before you start. If you keep that in mind, Autostitch is the quickest and easiest way to create a panorama that I ever have tried.
